Top 10 Albums

These are not necessarily in any particular order.
Super Discount - Various
This is a very mellow album for those who love House music. Soothing beats and catching lines make for an album that is perfect for listening to even when you're tired. I don't have a favourite or least favourite track on this album, they are all worthy of praise.
Aenima - Tool
Tool is one of the most amazing and powerful bands I have ever heard and seen. The fact that the concert was so good makes listening to the album even more of a pleasant experience. It's nice to know that a band can actually play and that the album hasn't been edited to the point where they sound good when really they're not. Tool is great.
Tidal - Fiona Apple
She has known for being angsty, and she is. But this girl has pure talent. Fiona Apple has a raw voice that exudes sex and blues, and an amazing skill for the piano. Apple may be a depressing and angsty girl from America, but she certainly can sing.
Dummy - Portishead
I bought this album in 1995 not long after it released and I hadn't heard many songs by this band from England. It is now my most listened to album. The lyrics for the songs are a work of art and the beats are hypnotic.
Mezzanine - Massive Attack
With the release of the video for Teardrop, Massive Attack gained a name for being different and maybe a little bit risqué. This album has an overall mellower feel than the previous Protection, but the variety of sounds still make Mezzanine a Massive Attack spectacular.
Baduism - Erykah Badu
Baduism is earthy and beautiful. It's R&B, Soul and Jazz all at once. This album has a fullness that comes from the layered gospel vocals. Baduism is perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon.
The General Electric - Shihad
This is probably my number one New Zealand album of all time. There has always been good music coming out of New Zealand, and The General Electric makes the energetic epitome of New Zealand rock.
Pretty Hate Machine - Nine Inch Nails
Nine Inch Nails have progressed a fair bit since the release of this album, and although I love The Fragile, I love the hardness of Pretty Hate Machine. Trent Reznor is a genius.
Ten - Pearl Jam
Released in the near the peak of the Seattle Grunge scene, Ten proved to be a very popular album. I don't know many people that don't own this album and the tracks say why. Ten is hard but still melodic, and Eddie Vedder's voice has more emotion that many "grunge" bands could manage.
Reprazent - Roni Size
Roni Size is the mac-daddy of drum & bass. I need say no more.
